The Classic Doctor who is Season 1 to Season 26... New Doctor Who Series 1 to current. I have a mix of both, but the year 2005 identifier for the "new" series gets jumbled into the 1963 identifier for the "classic" series. It's a mess. I've sort of worked around it by just busting the new into season 27 - current... but it's not a proper fix (no meta data will download).
Is it possible to fix this? If so, how? Thanks!

I can't find a way to automatically (or even manually) assign metadata to a TV show packaged as volumes, rather than seasons. Example:
Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection, Vol. 1
Plex issues with supporting this content:
Plex can't find the correct metadata — not surprising, since it's a collection vs. a TV show per se
Plex seemingly only supports "Season" folders, not "Volume" folders
Although I've given episodes actual names ("Looney Tunes_ Platinum Collection, Vol. 1 - S01E01 - Hare Tonic") as part of their filename, Plex isn't using them
There's no apparent way to define correct metadata manually using external files (I don't want to use Plex's "pencil" tool, because it's temporarily to the database)
Does Plex have a way of supporting collections like this?

_I have uninstalled & reinstalled Plex Media Player _because it wasn't connecting correctly with neither Smart TV. I have a VIZIO in the living room & a Samsung Smart TV in my bedroom. Now the media player that is installed on my computer will not connect. I keep seeing download media player. Nothing that was synced to my computer & both TV's isn't able to sync. I have done ever thing except deactivate my account. I don't want to do that as I did enjoy Plex Media Player.

"Impossible to recognize video stream" ! On all devices from 4 to 6 marshmallow.
I must go back to the last working version, the 1.1.4.x

I have been starting to burn old DVD's (not blu rays yet) and using either MakeMKV or DVD Decrypter and then using Handbrake to reduce the file size. Without messing with the settings and just using the high profile setting in Handbrake, I notice it automatically adds two audio tracks with 2 different codecs: AAC with 160 bitrate and AC3 passthru. From trying to figure out what those codecs mean on my own, it is my understanding that it is just a compatibility issue where one is more widely compatible than the other. Could someone just explain if one should be used over the other? I know when I use both, it just gives you the option to choose one or the other in Plex. Any input on which audio tracks to use would be helpful. Thank you.
Basically there is a public facebook group that is rapidly expanding and charging people £80-£120 a year to access a plex server.
They also have an "official" website too, that is basically selling Plex as their own service. Have a look at their cheeky Terms of Service page!
I dont like to see people conned into £80 for a "service".
What is the stance here on this?

Just updated server to 2.10.7 and I am getting to Relay inside my home network, and my Home Theater installed on another computer within the network is no longer working. Was this supposed to be an upgrade????!!!!!
How about if I do not want a Relay? How about if I want to keep my collection internal, and not access it from outside my network? How about privacy??????

I've discovered that Plex doesn't import Playlists from iTunes where the playlist is based on a rule applied to the "Genre" category.
For example - Pop, R&B, French, Spanish, Classical etc
Although I've managed some work arounds I still get the playlist name in Plex but without content where the original liTunes playlist has a "Genre" rule.
Can developers please take a look and see if it's possible to get Plex to import Playlists sorted on "Genres"?
my plex server looks at my iTunes movies folder, plex shows movies that aren't there (3 Women from 1977), when I try to play the movie I get a message "file contains DRM" How do I delete the my from plex, it is NOT in the iTunes folder.
I have just started using Plex. My sever is a windows 10 pc and I am playing the videos on a LG OLED65E6V.
However the controls, skip back, pause, play, skip Fred, etc remain on the screen with the picture visible through them.
There is also a transparent band across the top of the screen
I can see no setting to remove these, am I missing something?

I have two episodes of a tv show that are merged in one file, basically like a longer episode. I was able to make Plex recognize the two parts by naming the file S06E01-02.mkv. The problem is that the two episodes are exactly the same file that starts from the beginning, no matter which one I play.
Is there a way to tell the second episode to start from a certain point or to set Plex so that it shows only one episode called Episodes 1-2?

With a show like MythBusters, where there are specials that are not part of the regular episode #s, what is the best way to name them so Plex will order and name them in order of the air date (according to Wikipedia)?
Example:
In season 3 it goes "Episode 10: Bulletproof Water", "The Jaws Special", and "Episode 11:Border Slingshot". According to original air date. according to thetvdb.com the episodes go S3E16-Bulletproof Water, S3E17-Jaws Special, S3E18-Border Slingshot.
I would like Plex to list episode 10, the special, then episode 11 in that order. And hopefully it will pull in all the correct meta data with little to no editing on my end. It doesn't have to be correct in file explorer, but i would like it correct in Plex.
I know this is a very specific request, I just want to know if it is possible and if so, how to do it.

I have a htpc with plex server installed and use plex apps on apple tv 4, Roku 3, fire tv and ps4. All these devices are wired to my home network and plex is looking at my iTunes library for content. My son recently took the Roku 3 to college and wants to access our movies from his dorm room, do I need plex pass? Do I need to anything more that turn on remote access?

I seem to have lost access to my lifetime PlexPass.
On 21 October of 2013 (PDT) I paid USD$74.99 for a lifetime PlexPass. I am a daily user of Plex (PMS and a player, both running on Linux) and I like the product.
I am not a frequent visitor to these forums, but I came back recently as I received a marketing email about the Plex DVR product which is in beta. I'd like to investigate replacing my mythTV install with a more integrated DVR.
However, my username and password no longer allow me access. I do not believe I have forgotten the password, and attempting to reset it does not generate a password reset email - it looks like the account has been removed.
I have left three "Plex Pass Billing" related contacts on the webform at "https://www.plex.tv/contact/" over the last three weeks, but to date received 0 replies. I have checked my spam folder.
I have had to create a new account to post this message, so no PlexPass will be associated with this account.
Can someone from Plex, Inc please contact me on this email address, or via this forum to resolve this issue.

OK, so...FTR; I'm not 80! I can only somewhat-ashamedly admit, I'm 49; but I've been streaming audio and video, since you could.
My approach...and I've helped, a TON of others get started (in my day); is you break it down, into these components:
Ripping > Storage > Transport > Hardware > Playback
For many years...I thought definitive approaches, to these issues; were very tough to make...because of ever-shifting paradigms. For example...when you 1st starting ripping BDs, no one would dare do ISO; too much space! But then storage got cheap. And don't even get me started, on how many boxes I've tried (WDTV, PCH, Dune, etc.)...or Playback options (XBMC, Zappiti, et al).
However...I think, I have finally hit on a stable solution: with PLEX! I use unRAID for storage, it can host PLEX; and (for the most part), I like the front-end and options for hardware (currently just using FireTV, and occasionally my PS3; but I'm open, to like the Nvidia Shield, etc.)
So...what's the problem? Well...while I was w a i t i n g, for all of this to sort/shake out; at least for me...I got stuck, in a real rut! Hell...I still rip my SD with DVD Shrink, lol (hey...if it ain't broke; don't fix it. And actually...as you all obviously know...SD is a piece of cake, and not the issue); and my HD/BD...wait for it: with ToNMT...ROFL.
OK...so; that is where the questions start...and, I'm sure right now I'm driving the Ferrari that is my PLEX, about 35mph in the slow-lane. I want to know how to do this, and that.
We'll start here, if we can; and again...please keep in mind, the solutions I assume, are dependent on how I host (which is on uR). For example, setting up shares...and mapping to libraries, and such.
OK...so it may be 35mph, but I am at least moving and "getting back-and-forth"; with regards to movies. Now that I plan to ditch "everything else"...and implement PLEX household-wide; I need to get TV episodes working, and scraping, etc.
Can someone start, pointing me in the right direction? By all means...if something like this, has been asked, answered, and documented a million times (which I imagine it has); if you want to point me at a link or Wiki, that's fine. But don't be surprised, if I come back...with some follow-up.
