So I've been using Plex for a short while now on a couple devices and it's been pretty fantastic. Video quality is great, library setup is a breeze... it's the best. The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is how subtitles work. I have these two issues:
Subtitles flash, exactly like this video by another user shows:
Subtitles have a thick black border and aren't particularly smooth looking. Too edge-y for my taste. Netflix and players like VLC and PotPlayer on my desktop have much smoother looking subtitles. I can't find any way to get Plex to show them more nicely.
I'm using Plex on the PlayStation 4 and my Chromecast 2. I could also use it on my Xbox One S but haven't tried that yet. Is it a better option? Most files I watch are either .mp4 or .mkv and subtitles are .srt files 99% of the time. Or baked into the video file.
Does anyone have any experience in getting better looking and displaying subtitles? Does it differ per device?
Kind regards,
Jelle
