Is NUC powerful enough for pure bluray rips incl 3D?

Im looking at replacing all my AppleTV/Chromecast etc with a clean Plex setup.

That includes home cinema, but also the built in tv in the bathroom/ the WAF bose zone in the living room.

The issue is that for example that bathroom tv is gonna be confied in a closed of space of 60x30x20 space, so heat would become an issue with an HTPC.

Thats why im looking at those NUCs. Same thing with the WAF living room (space/noicy box...)

My question is, are they powerful enough to play Plex with my clean bluray collection (up to 40Mbit pixars) and 3D. There should also be noted that some of the archive will  be downloaded/third party and shared archive from friends. So there will be some mixed file format, meaning i cant 100% depend on it having an codec that is hardware handled by gpu (Or does the server do transcoding to proper format no matter what?).

I have no problem specing the server side to high heavens. But the client side needs to be thin client with low power consumption and small physical volume.

Also note that im gonna be running the Plex home theater version. So small clients aka android devices etc is not an alternative (tried the ps4 version and hated it!)

Are any of the NUCs gonna be good enough or do i need to go mini ITX with dedicated GPU?, in any case, which NUC version/gen/modell should be more than enough with a sprinkle of headroom? :)
