Hope some of you can give me some suggestions....
I travel on the road with bands the majority of the year. I have a Synology NAS at home with nearly 2,000 movies and TV episodes with Plex Server running natively on the NAS. Everything works fantastic and I can stream to my laptops, iPad and iPhone just fine with a combination of the NAS's ability to transcode and a very robust upload speed.
However, a good majority of the time I am on the road, we have bad or no cellular signal and that means I am unable to stream. I recently purchased the WD My Passport Wireless and installed the Plex Server onto it using the thread in these forums. There is no transcoding capability in the WD due to the processor, so my question is what would be the ideal resolution to transcode my content to that I want to load onto the Passport Wireless, for use by myself and my bus mates while we are on the bus? I want something that can stream to multiple devices and I don't care about file size. I want to transcode a selected bunch of movies/TV shows, then load hem onto the WD and have ability to use on the bus without internet connection. Perhaps the WD isnt the right choice, but I do want wireless capability with a battery powered device. We also want to use it to stream to our amazon firestick attached to the Tv in the front lounge of the bus.
Open for any and all suggestions.
