needs a lil more work to make it the "best" music library out there :)
in the recent weeks the shouts for an improvement of the Plex Music Scanner and a better integration of the iTunes plugin have grown. I think it should be the next thing the Plex team should start working on, once they have perfected the subtitle & search functions introduced with 0.9.2.
The most important bits should be:
– iTunes artist bio & photos
- Compilation support for the Plex Music Scanner
- Composer info in both
- Display of lyrics
- GAPLESS media playback!!
- FAST FORWARDING/REWINDING!
- Track duration is missing in the Plex Music scanner sections.
- improvement of the shuffle function
- better scanning of covers… many missing in both iTunes plugin and Plex Music Scanner (even after the very latest fix)
i could think of more but just the fact that i could think of 7 things that need fixes/improvements shows that there is some work needed here. some points i mentioned are fancy things (lyrics), others are just basic functions that need improvement (gapless, ff/rw, shuffle, covers), and i don't know how much work they will each need but if i could decide, i'd make the music improvement the next big thing to work on.
so far the iTunes plugin works fine for me (and others i suppose) to listen to music, as long as it's not a gapless album with many short tracks, which makes the whole thing unlistenable due to repeated interruptions.
probably the word i'll get on here is "soon" and that's fine to me, but i would like to know how how high a priority the staff sees this. is there a couple more things they wanna add before they start working on it (so surely more than just a couple of months wait), or will it be the next big thing? i think many users would rather have a flawless music integration rather than Trailer support n stuff. :)
thanks! :)
