Controlling LG tv via RS232 and Yamaha AVR via network

Hi all,

I have been using Kodi for a while, and have been able to modify it with a couple of home-made addons (based upon code of some others) which allows Kodi to turn on/off a ~2007 LG tv via an RS232 connection, as well as specify the correct input and picture mode (when the TV turns on, it often resets itself back to a picture mode that is not 1:1 pixel mapped).

Additionally, it can turn on/off my Yamaha RX-575 AV receiver, adjust the volume, and set the input, and sound modes. I also have a button on the remote which enables and disables the Zone 2 speakers.

This all happens from a single remote (Microsoft Media Centre) and a Windows 10 PC.

I also have a number of portable devices, iPads, android phones etc, which I also use to access media, and Plex has been fantastic for this.

I am currently synchronising the two libraries via Trakt, but this is not instantaneous, and has sometimes stopped working due to authentication issues, which requires manual intervention to link either Plex or Kodi to it again.

Therefore, I have thought about using Plex for everything. I do not wish to replace any equipment, or change from Windows 10 on the PC, as it is also used for tasks other than media playback (such as Windows-only games via Steam).

However, before I take the plunge, I need to know whether it is possible to integrate my existing hardware and current setup with Kodi, utilising a single remote for everything, and turning on/off these two devices, as well as the various additional tasks mentioned above.

Is there any existing extensions to Plex which provides this functionality? Is Plex extensible in this way? How much of my existing code for Kodi can be repurposed? Can I hook into the startup of Plex and the PC going into Standby to perform these actions, and intercept the volume control commands?

I'm new to Plex in terms of tweaking, so maybe I'm just not aware of what "addons" are known as, so my searching thus far is unsuccessful because of this, rather than a lack of available code!

Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
