Hi all,
Why is a Plex Pass so incredibly pricey? I like Plex so far, but the subscription fees for a pass are a big obstacle. I feel the price almost suggests you get _content _with your subscription, but that appears not to be the case. So what is sold as a subscription is, in fact, a piece of software. And in my case a piece of software of which I will use only a fraction of its potential. The only reason I would consider buying a Plex Pass for is to enable my partner to watch a series of shows under her own name. All the rest is not interesting to me. I understand this is just my particular usecase, but I can't imagine that there aren't countless others who wouldn't mind to spend a few dimes on a good piece of software, but don't like to pay top money.
But I guess Plex Passes are just for philanthropist millionaires who wish to support software development. I understand that there is also a bit of service involved in that plex.tv works as a kind of helper service which would justify a recurring fee. But then again, I would rather see an implementation which would just be limited to my local network and not connect my devices via a third party server. I use other software besides Plex which has all the capabilities I need **without **any login. I do prefer the Plex GUI though. And I would like the multi-user capability that comes with the Plex Pass, if it were more affordable.
Cheers,
Sando.
